Introduction
The ‘classroom’ has a large but shallow pond, a study area, a woodland containing a bird hide, bird feeders, a fire pit and log circle.

The plan includes all the initial features we would wish to include, it does not include landscaping, which is something we wish the children at our school to design and implement.

Once the ‘classroom’ is in place, additional features, such as sculpture, will be added by the children. We also have included our own school allotment as part of the ‘classroom’, with a block for each year in our school. This allows children to grow their own food and gain an insight into where thier food comes from.

It also involves composting and recycling, which has become a regular part of our school life. The fact that the ‘classroom’ is adjoining the local community centre means that it is accessible for use by any community groups that may want to use it.

Next to our school is a large car park thus eliminating any complications due to parking and travel that other schools or groups may have. The overall message that comes from using our outdoor classroom is one of caring for and protecting our environment. Sustainability will be at the heart of this message.

It is intended to be a meaningful and memorable experience for anyone who uses it.
